Tami gave me her family's favorite German Chocolate Brownie Recipe. The topping of chocolate, caramel, nuts and coconut is just incredible!
COOKIE RECIPE HELP

INGREDIENTS
Brownies:
1 cup flour; spoon into measuring cup and level to rim
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (1 stick or 8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
1 (4 oz.) bar German or sweet baking chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs

Topping:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons corn syrup
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts

INSTRUCTIONS
Make the brownies:
1. Position an oven shelf to the middle of the oven. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease an 8- or 9-inch square pan. Set aside.

2. Add flour, baking powder and salt; mix well. Set aside.

3. In medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly.

4. Cool slightly, add sugar and vanilla, blend well.

5. Add eggs; beat well.  

6. Add the flour mixture and stir until combined.

7. Spread into the prepared pan.

8. Bake for 18 to 26 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with a few moist crumbs but not batter. Remove brownies from oven.

Add the topping:
1. Turn oven to broil.

2. Meanwhile, in small bowl combine 2 tablespoons butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and milk; blend well. Stir in coconut and pecans.

3. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls evenly over warm brownies; spread gently.

4. Broil 4 inches from heat for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until bubbly.

5. Cool completely on a wire cake rack; cut into bars.

STORAGE
Store at room temperature for a few days. Freezes well for a month or more.
